The Bobby Vinton Blue Velvet Theatre opened in 1993 and is the showplace to popular recording artist Bobby Vinton accompanied by the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Two shows daily.
Spirit of the Dance for Year 2000
The Spirit of the Dance, the Irish step dance troupe which earlier
in 1999 was performing at the Grand Mansion, will be performing at the
Bobby Vinton Theatre in year 2000. Tentative schedule calls for them to
alternate performance times from April through December 2000 with Vinton
taking July and August off. The shows are tentatively scheduled to start
18 April 1999.
Theater: The Blue Velvet Theatre is a vision in blue reminiscent of the bygone romantic Hollywood era. Walls, doors, floors - all are blue. The theater lobby has a ceiling painted sky blue with clouds and cherubs. The carpet is blue with gold Bobby Vinton Records.
The stage isn't deep, but it holds the seated 15 member Glenn Miller Orchestra. Large video screens on either side of the stage bring Bobby close to even the farthest seat.
Seating: 1,600 seats all have a good view, leg room is ample.
Handicap access: Good
Show: The show is a true family affair, Bobby's daughters join him on stage, singing backup, and his son manages the act.
Bobby sings all his greatest hits and spends a lot of time in the audience meeting and greeting. He's a generous kisser so if ladies happen to sit in the first ten to fifteen rows on the aisles, they should prepare to be smooched. He also brings members of the audience up on stage to dance to the oldies and big band hits.
Credited with bringing the Big Band sound to Branson, the multi-talented Vinton sits in with the orchestra on the piano, drums, clarinet, trumpet and saxophone.
Gift Shop: You can purchase jars of Dorothy Vinton's jams and jellies. Dorothy is Bobby's mother.
Parking tip: The walk to the theater from the parking lot is steep. Advisable for front door drop off for people in wheelchairs or those with health problems.
Location: In the center of the Strip on W. SR 76.
