The Will Rogers Theatre is the home of Branson's 1997 Show of the Year, "The Promise". A special feature of the theater is the Will Rogers museum.
Theater: The large auditorium is attractive with a U-curved lobby giving the effect of a mezzanine, but the amphitheater is all on one level. Lighting and sound are state of the art.
Seating: 2,200 very comfortable, roomy seats, good leg room.
Handicap access: Excellent
Show: The Promise is a musical theatrical production based on the life of Christ. The talented cast numbers over 50. The two and a half hour production utilizes such special effects as smoke, lasers, flying angels, rain curtains, and many live animals. Not only was The Promise named Show of the Year for 1997, the actor portraying Jesus, Randy Brooks was named the 1997 Male Vocalist of the Year. The Promise Official Web Site.
Special features: The theater houses the Will Rogers museum with art, artifacts, and memorabilia of Rogers' life. There is also one of the most extensive gift shops in town. They even have a mail order catalog.
Location: North of the Strip. Take 65 to 248 intersection. Next to Glen Campbell Good Time Theatre.
