Recent Las Vegas Developments of interest.
The Alon Las Vegas is in planning stages on the 34.6 acres of land next
to the Fashion Show Mall and across the street from Wynn. This is the land
where the Frontier casino once occupied.
James Packer purchased the property in 2014. Andre Pascal will help
operate the property. Alon will target Asian high rollers similar
to the target market for the Wynn. Initial plans call for 1,100 hotel rooms.
There will be one tall tower and one smaller tower in addition to some
villas. Plans call for a nightclub, pool and ballroom.
Plans were submitted to Clark County on 28 May 2015. Groundbreaking
is expected in early 2016 with the resort to open in late 2018. Plans and
construction schedule is tentative and subject to change. There is limited
information available so expect the initial plans to change before
they are finalized. Reported 6 July 2015.
The Resorts World Las Vegas - Officials with the Nevada Gaming Control
Board recommended a gaming license for Genting Berhad, the investment arm
of Genting Group. A second review will be held 22 May by the Nevada Gaming
Commission. This is a major step in obtaining approval for the project.
The Resorts World Las Vegas is scheduled for the 87-acre site where
the partially built Echelon project has sat for almost five years. The
Genting Group (a Malaysian conglomerate) announced on Monday 4 March 2013,
that they will break ground on the new development in 2014. It is to be
named the Resorts World Las Vegas. There will be pagoda-style roofs on
glass towers, martial arts performances, regional Chinese cuisine and a
family friendly atmosphere.
The Resorts World Las Vegas will include over 3,500 hotel rooms, convention
center and 4,000 set theater. Total cost at build-out is expected
to be $7 billion. Opening date is scheduled for 2016.
The Stardust resort was demolished in 2007 to make way for the $4.8
million Echelon project. The Echelon was to be opened in 2010 but was put
on hold indefinitely by the Boyd Gaming Corp. Reported 4 March 2013. Updated

a gaming license.
The Las Vegas High Roller had a grand opening Monday 31 March 2014.
The 550-foot "High Roller" is the world's tallest Ferris wheel. Each of
the 28 pod-like cabins has a capacity of 40-people.
The High Roller moves at a steady 1 mile per hour and each ride takes
30 minutes. The large Ferris wheel is the centerpiece of the new $550 million
"The LINQ" entertainment complex of recently opened shops, bars, and restaurants.
The LINQ is part of Caesars Entertainment Corp. One can reserve tickets

Rides are $26.95 per trip from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, or $36.95 from 6:00

The Daylight
Beach Club at the Mandalay Bay Resorts and Casino is back. The Daylight
Beach Club opened in the Summer 2013. Being seasonal, it was closed during
the winter months. The venue has a capacity of 5,000 and features a 4,400
square foot pool along with a 1,500 square foot elevated stage and six
LED screens. Not your ordinary traditional Las Vegas pool party.
Daylight Beach Club has announced their opening weekend dates. Daylight
will have a soft opening Friday 28 March through Sunday, 30 March 2014.
The grand opening is set for the following Saturday, 5 April 2014 featuring
a performance by crossover dance music mastermind Nicky Romero. Daylight
hours are Friday through Sunday 11:00am to 6:00pm. Saturday and Sunday

Olivia Newton-John starts her Las Vegas residency on Tuesday 8 April
2014 with 45 shows at the Donny and Marie Showroom at The Flamingo. Dates
are scheduled through the summer 2014. A nostalgic show featuring favorites
from Olivia's past such as "Grease" classics "Hopelessly Devoted to You"
and "You're the One That I Want," as well as independent pop songs. The
show will be called "Summer Nights."

Out with Bill's Gamblin' Hall and in with the Cromwell. At least that is
the current plan. Ceasars Entertainment Corp. has announced that it plans
to replace the closed Las Vegas Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon that was
closed in 2013. The new 188-room hotel will be renamed the Cromwell.
The previous plan was to open it as the Gansevoort but that is no longer
the plan.
The Cromwell is located in the center of the Strip with will include
a rooftop pool along with Drai's Beach Club and Nightclub ( Victor Drai,
the night club developer ). Caesar's is referring to it as Las Vegas' first
'luxury lifestyle boutique hotel." The renovation of the old Bill's
Gamblin' Hall cost $185 million. Caesars added hardwood floors, black and
white tile shower walls, and plush seating to the hotel rooms. There
is a 40,000 square foot casino and a restaurant with television ( The Food
Network ) celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis. The rooms will draw inspiration
from modern Parisian style lodgings.
Giada De Laurentiis' restaurant, Giada, will be located on the second
story. Giada will seat 260 guests and feature automatic retractable windows.
It will open this Fall 2014. Look for Italian cooking with vibrant Californian
influences with such dishes as lemon spaghetti, eggplant rollatini, marsala
herb chicken meatballs and lemon ricotta cookies.
The hotel property is at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo
Road. It was once called the Barbary Coast and Bill's Gamblin' Hall. The
Cromwell will hire for 1,200 positions for the hotel and for Drai's nightclub
and rooftop pool. Rooms are scheduled to go on pre-sale on 21 February
and on sale to the public on 24 February 2014. No opening date has been
set as of press-time for this article. Reported 31 January 2014.
Las Vegas hosted nearly 39,668,221 million visitors in 2013 just shy
of the 2012 record of 39,727,022. Average daily room rates for the
strip were $112.14 in December 2013 versus $102.34 in December 2012, an
increase of 1.6 percent.. Citywide hotel occupancy averaged 84.3 percent
for the year 2013. Room inventory as of 31 December 2013 was 150,593 just
over the inventory of 150,481 at the end of year 2012.
Convention attendance exceeded 5.1 million for year 2013, the highest
count since 2008 reflecting the ongoing improvement in the convention and
meetings segment.
Passenger traffic at McCarran airport was up 0.5 percent, reaching 41.86

Britney Spears as announced a two year residency in Las Vegas at the
Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. The first of 100 shows will be 27 December
2013. The initial 16 Britney Spears dates go on sale Friday 20 September
2013. Prices range from from $59.00 to $179.00 plus fees. Reported Tuesday

SHANIA TWAIN LAS VEGAS DATES |
The Shania Twain has announced 22 new show dates for "Shania: Still
the One" at the Caesars Palace concert hall. The 22 new shows start this
fall and are in addition to the 12 shows starting 14 May 2013. Tickets
to the fall shows (15 October 2013 to 14 December 2013) go on sale Friday
10 May 2013. Shania Twain show ticket prices range from $55.00 to $250.00

NEW ARENA VENUE FOR LAS VEGAS |
MGM Resorts International, together with AEG have entered into an agreement
to pursue the development of a 20,000 seat indoor arena. It will be located
west of the Las Vegas Strip, between the New York-New York and the Monte
Carlo, extending from Las Vegas Boulevard to Frank Sinatra Drive. Expect
to see boxing, sporting events, headline entertainment and other special
events. Design and planning is well underway. The partners are expected
to begin seeking appropriate approvals soon. The project will include retail
shops and dining. Reported 1 March 2013.
The Sahara Hotel Casino broke ground 14 February 2013 on the $415 million
renovations.. The SLS Las Vegas Hotel and Casino was formerly known at
the Sahara Hotel and Casino. There will be 1,600 guest rooms, retail shopping,
four nightlife venues, and several dining options. It is scheduled to open
in the Fall of 2014. The Sahara was closed on 16 May 2011.
