The Warfield (The Warfield nightclub, restaurant and bar) is located on Market Street in San Francisco.

History: The Warfield opened in 1922 as a vaudeville theater, later became a movie theater and has been a major stage for pop music acts since the 1970s. More recently the Warfield was used as a concert venue. The main floor seats were removed in the 1980s to allow for general admission and dancing.

The Warfield had a management change in May 2008. Bill Graham Presents held their last performance by Phil Lesh the evening of 18 May 2008 which ran until well after midnight. The promoter, Bill Graham Presents, had held a lease on the Warfield since 1978. Bill Graham Presents was recently owned by Clear Channel. Warfield Theater LLC bought the building from Florence Fang in April 2005. The Warfield was closed for renovations in June 2008. The new lessee, Goldenvoice/AEG Live, is scheduled to reopen the venue in September 2008. George Lopez is scheduled to be the first performance on 13 September 2008.
