New for 2002 with the 15 October 2002 Bob Dylan concert, a major $1.5 million makeover of the historic Wiltern Theatre. 1,200 fixed seats have been removed, the slanted floor has been sculpted into five tiers rising away from the front of the stage. The balcony retains its fixed seats for about 1,000 people. The main floor now has a flexible setup and holds from 900 to 1,400 depending upon the setup. The lobby gets a face lift too.
The Wiltern is used for a large variety of events including: rock/pop concerts, dance performances, award shows, television tapings, stage productions, and corporate events.
The Wiltern is a well established landmark in Los Angeles. The historic Wiltern Theatre originally opened on 7 October 1931 and is an excellent example of Art Deco.
Capacity: 2,200 varies depending upon how the floor arrangement is setup.
"The Wiltern", as it is known now, is owned by Clear Channel Entertainment's Los Angeles music division. Clear Channel Entertainment, formerly known as SFX, is a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications, Inc. [NYSE: CCU].
