Early Years - Born in the coastal city of
Barranquilla Colombia to a Colombian mother and a Lebanese father. Her
first album under her first recording contract with Sony Music Colombia
was "Magia" (Magic). Magia included songs written by Shakira between the
ages of 8 and 13. Her second album, two years later, was "Peligro" (Danger).
After graduating from high school, Shakira become known internationally
with her 1996 album "Pies Descalzos". The album was so popular that Shakira
recorded remixes in Portuguese for her Brazilian fans.
