Background Katie was born and raised in Toledo,
Ohio. She attended an all girl school, Notre Dame Academy.
It was at Notre Dame that Katie appeared in the role of Lola in the school's
production of "Damn Yankees".
Family Katie is the youngest of five daughters.
Her father is a lawyer and her mother a homemaker. Katie lives in
Wilmington, NC where "Dawson's Creek" is filmed.
First Film Role Katie portrayed Libbets
Casey the love interest of Toby Maguire in the award winning, coming of
age film "The Ice Storm". The film depicts middle class families
in Connecticut involved in the sexual revolution and declining morals of
the 70s.
"Dawson's Creek" Katie is one of the four
stars of the series. She plays Joey Potter, a 15-year old whose mother
has died of cancer and whose father is in jail. She lives with her
pregnant sister, Bessie, and Bessie's black boyfriend, Bodie. Her
love for and relationship with Dawson is the only thing keeping her together,
but Jen comes along and things take a dramatic turn.
