Like Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Melanie, or Mel B as she is also called, took dancing and acting lessons. She was accepted to the Inlake School of Performing Arts. She continued with courses at Leeds College of Music and Northern School of Contemporary Dance. 

At 19, Mel moved to London to pursue her dream. She roomed with another talented dancer, Melanie Chisholm, whom she had met at various auditions. Mel continued her dance and vocal lessons and was cast in small parts in some TV shows and commercials. 

Her years of hard work finally paid off and her dream of success was realized when she was picked to be a Spice Girl. Her tattoo and pierced tongue helped her get the nickname of Scary. But her loud, sexy image and nickname are all part of the act. Mel B has her feet on the ground, she knows what she wants and so far she has it. 

Spice Girl Mel B plans to wed Icelandic-born former boxer Fjolnir Thorgeirsson. No date set.
