$10 million facelift for this well known attraction. The rededication ceremony took place on Monday 15 January 2001. The renovated boardwalk includes a skate dance area, children's playground, new basketball courts, legally sanctioned graffiti walls, artwork, a fountain, street lights and landscaping.

Artisan booths, street performers, sunglass and T-shirts, hard body weight lifters, bikini roller bladers, bicyclists. Rent a bicycle or roller blades at the rental shops on Windward. Enjoy breakfast at the Sidewalk Cafe just 1/2 block north of Windward. Great place to people watch. Dress real casual. This is a bathing suit and shorts crowd during the warm summer days. The police are on bicycles and horses here. Most crowded during the day from noon to 3:00 pm on weekends. Don't linger late in the afternoon as the sun goes down. Everyone leaves the area before it gets dark. Move on up to Third Street Promenade. Venice Beach is second only to Disneyland in popularity.
